1980s cars used in a film starring Daniel Day-Lewis were issued parking tickets after the council reportedly refused permits.
The vehicles were in Handbridge, Chester, for the movie ‘Anenome’, co-written by the triple Oscar-winner and his son Ronan. A road-closure application from the film crew was reportedly rejected by Cheshire West and Chester Council. Locals claim that when the cars appeared for filming, traffic wardens were sent to issue fines. The vehicles, parked on double-yellow lines, were seen being ticketed.
It’s alleged that traffic wardens were instructed to ‘ticket every vehicle’ after the council discovered filming was going ahead without the necessary permits.
Graham, a local resident who runs the Handbridge Life Facebook page, shared photos and said he was told by a crew member that parking permits were also requested but denied. Councillor Matt Carter, addressing the issue on Facebook, said: ‘I enquired about this with the council. They had not been approached for permission, and highways did not approve this. The filming company was advised on the necessary permissions, but these were not requested. They also applied for a full road closure, which was refused.
The local council informed Express.co.uk in a statement: “Several weeks prior to filming, an onsite meeting was held with the Council’s Highways and Events Team, along with Cheshire Police, to discuss the filming requirements and determine what could be permitted.”
